We’re excited to highlight the work of Gianluca, a student from FH Aachen, who recently completed a six-month internship with Helix.
During his time with us, Gianluca worked on both his Practical and Bachelor’s thesis- contributing directly to the development and optimization of our test bench systems.
As part of his Practical, Gianluca developed a measurement system to record thrust and performance data. This included selecting and calculating appropriate sensors for the forces involved, as well as designing a method to convert analog sensor signals into digital data that could be processed and recorded on a computer. He also implemented manual control of the test bench via a PC link, creating a more flexible and efficient testing environment.
Building on this foundation, his Bachelor’s thesis focused on data evaluation and automation. Gianluca developed a control program that allows the test bench to automatically reach and maintain a specified RPM. In addition, he created a dedicated analysis tool to evaluate thrust and performance data collected during testing.
We’re grateful for Gianluca’s contributions and for the awesome brownies he baked on his last day here.
