Helix is proud to offer certified noise measurement services across Germany.

LFA is a collaboration between FH Aachen - University of Applied Sciences and Helix-Carbon GmbH.

This collaboration has been granted approval by the German Federal Aviation Office (Luftfahrt-Bundesamt) to conduct noise measurements according to ICAO Annex 16, Chapter 10, as well as in accordance with the Noise Regulation (LVL) on propeller aircraft with a maximum takeoff mass of up to 8618 kg, helicopters with a maximum takeoff mass of up to 3175 kg, ultralight aircraft with a maximum takeoff mass from 472.5 kg to 650 kg, and autogyros with a maximum takeoff mass from 560 kg to 650 kg.

Information to Noise Measurement Procedure:

Before you fly:

Before requesting an appointment, please have the following information ready:

  • Your contact information
  • Make and model of your aircraft
  • Motor
  • Propeller
  • Rate of Climb (R/C)
  • Speed of Climb (Vy)
  • 50ft Takeoff Distance

Let us know if you need help gathering or locating this information.

Weather Conditions:

In order to complete a valid noise measurement, the following Meteorological conditions must be met:

  • There can be no precipitation
  • Relative humidity at 1.2 meters above the ground must be between 20% and 95%
  • Ambient temperature at 1.2 meters above the ground must be between 2° and 35° celcius
  • The ground must not be frozen
  • Wind speed at 1.2 meters above the ground may be a maximum of 5.3 m/s
  • The crosswind component may be a maximum of 2.5 m/s

Noise Limits:

The noise measurements according to Chapter 10 must be carried out for propeller aircraft and motor gliders with a maximum takeoff mass of 8618 kg as follows:
